SSC CGL Tier 1 Syllabus consists of various sections such as General Intelligence & reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. This tier is conducted in an online mode and it consists of objective type of questions. Note that there is a negative marking for each question where 0.50 marks will be dedicated for each wrong answer.

  1. Section-wise Preparation Strategy

You need to study wisely for each section and make a proper preparation approach. Here, I will share some of the effective SSC CGL preparation tips according to each section.

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning

You need to refer to the past year’s question papers as that will give you an idea about the important topics as well as you will be well aware of the complete exam pattern. While solving these papers, I suggest that you sort out the most important topics that are asked by SSC each year. Pay special attention to those topics and practice them daily.

Practice is the key when preparing for general intelligence and reasoning. You need to practice solving questions daily to increase your speed and accuracy and time management.

Some of the important and scoring topics that you need to focus on are puzzles, figure-based questions, analogy, coding-decoding, series.

  • General Awareness

This section consists of current affairs and static GK questions. For Static GK, you need to prepare for History, geography, Polity, Science, Economy & Miscellaneous. Here, you need to refer to the previous year’s papers too and find out the important topics. Make mind maps and short notes for self-study as that will avoid confusion and help you prepare more effectively. Refer to the standard Textbooks for all these topics.

For Current Affairs, read newspapers, magazines, articles, etc and be aware of the current happenings in India and the World. This is the most important SSC CGL Preparation tips that you need to keep in mind.

  • Quantitative Aptitude

This section requires a lot of practice as you need to solve various mathematical problems in your SSC CGL paper in a stipulated time. I suggest that you make a separate formula sheet and keep it handy as that will help you practice and refer to the formulas quickly. Clear your basics from NCERTs if possible. Lastly, according to the SSC CGL Tier 1 syllabus, prepare for topics like simplification, age problems, interest, percentages, ratio, and proportion as they are quite scoring and easy to understand

  • English

This section will test your proficiency in English so you need to work on your grammar and vocabulary to ace this section easily. Similarly, look for synonyms, antonyms, etc whenever you come across a new word. Reading is very necessary for scoring good marks in this section. You may read newspapers, articles from experienced authors, magazines, etc.

  1. Solve Mock Tests & Revise Regularly

The last and one of the most effective SSC CGL preparation tips is to solve mock tests daily. Mock tests allow you to practice and prepare for your exams easily. Along with that, these tests are designed to give you good practice and make you well aware of the examination pattern. Hence, I would recommend you to solve online mock tests.  In addition to this, Revision is very important. As the SSC CGL syllabus is quite vast, you may forget what you study every day so you must dedicate enough time to revision on a daily basis.

Final Thoughts!

To crack the SSC CGL exam, you need to put in a lot of hard work and dedication. Follow the tips which I have mentioned above so that you can easily excel in your exams with flying colors. Remember to choose your reference materials wisely and include daily revision as a part of your preparation. Lastly, keep a check on the official website of SSC for SSC CGL 2021 notification so that you can be aware of your exact exam dates and prepare accordingly.
